Funny concept, surprisingly fun gameplay!

Regardless of the actual content, the PSN hack is an amusing concept for a satirical game. Thankfully, you went the extra mile and actually made this entertaining! "PSN Protector" gets very fast and hectic very quickly, leaving me constantly on edge and nervous. The music is very catchy and exciting, too.

However, the fun doesn't really last long; it gets boring rather quickly. Also, it'd be nice if there was more depth to the game - like multiple types of fences, different levels, environmental hazards, and maybe nicer-looking graphics. Of course, implementing such features would take time and make the game less current when it was done.

Kenney responds:

Thanks :) This game was actually meant to be developed in 1 day but I kept adding features which made in into this semi-minigame. I do agree on you that the game is still shallow but that's what it was meant to be. Thanks for your review!

Great concept, programming DOES NOT WORK

Alright, I'm giving you a 6 for a great concept and the possibility of a fun game. However, it's fundamentally broken: only the first ball bounces off the paddle. The second and third balls just fall straight through it, making it impossible to get any further. Fix this grievous error, and this game gets an 8, as it sounds like fun and I'm sure I could waste a lot of time on this.

Gimmick responds:

*ahem*
Which mode did you choose? Hard? Medium? If so, READ THE DESCRIPTION.

Incredible

While admittedly, most of your concepts here are nothing new, originality is unimportant next to fun, and good lord, DN8 is fun. It begins simple, but GRADUALLY becomes more difficult - a nice touch, compared to the difficulty spikes common with Bullet Hell.

The "evolution" aspect is handled very well; each selectable adaptation gives you a distinct advantage that the other choice does not, and I more than once found myself thinking "oh, I should have picked that one instead." The boss fights are hard at first, but the true extraordinary challenge they provide at the end of the game must be seen to be believed. Although, I have to say, the procedurally generated music and enemies, while a cool idea, aren't particularly interesting to see or hear.

Congratulations, friend. Unlike SOME reviewers on here, I'm giving you a 10/10 because I truly feel you've earned it.

Squize responds:

Thanks man.

I'm the first to admit it's not the most original game in the world, there are lots of influences ( OutRun being one of them, which no one has picked up on yet ).
People do like pointing out the influences though, I've never understood why not being a 100% original in some way detracts from it being a fun game or not.

And rant over :)

A mediocre Asteroids clone

Now, you are FAR from the first person to make a Flash port of Asteroids. But this isn't even a particularly good example of one such clone; the ship is too small in comparison to the screen, so it's way too easy to get hit by the asteroids, and the graphics are rather bland - I'm assuming you took them from a stock images website.

That said, the programming is quite competent and does a good job of emulating the physics of the original game, so you get a 6. I hope to see your next games soon.

zerojosh responds:

Ha! Over on the mochi games forum people complained that the ship was to big so I shrunk it (and all other elements) by 75%. The graphics are original, modeled in Maya (aside from the the graphic in the upgrade shop - that was stock).

Good idea, bad presentation

I wanted to like this game. Reading the instructions, it sounds like a really cool idea. And it is... but if only I could play it.

DragonTale runs incredibly slowly. I don't know whether it was a bad internet connection or if the game simply has too much stuff going on, but either way it's nearly unplayable for me. I was mashing buttons frantically, trying to see if ANYTHING worked, but when the Dragon finally caught up with my commands, he did nothing I actually wanted him to do.

However, the graphics- which I understand were the main point of the game- are excellent. The animations are fluid and the tail, in particularly, moves very realistically (though, as I mentioned earlier, not very fluidly). Kudos to Max Fishman for a job well done.

In conclusion, DragonTale could have been an incredible game. It just has too much going on for it's own good. Hopefully, a patch, remake or sequel could fix this.

WhiteyGames responds:

I apologize to all for the laggyness, I only tested it in flash player, which ran fine, but it slows down a lot in the browser. And so yes, a fix is currently in the works. :) Should be up tomorrow, check back soon!

Not bad

real hard, but I like it.

Tokumo responds:

thanks

Needs fixing

Just as cool as before, but there are some huge glitches. In v. 2.5, you should fix them, and add some more weapons. Other than that, good job!

ishfulness responds:

I think i intend to make a three with everything, (including weapons cars, tanks, aircraft, submersibles, ships, ariel fortresses etc.) with all the weapons from 1 and 2 also

Great Job man

So cool, can't wait to see more of your stuff. Thank goodness that the poor guy who was banned from deviantART twice can get a second chance on newgrounds!

ishfulness responds:

DA (DeviantART) + NG (Newgrounds) = DANG!!

Alright, worms! I've got a lot of time to spend, and I don't want it wasted! Now go make something that impresses the hell out of me, and I MIGHT give you 3 stars! Make the best damn thing I've ever seen, and you get 4! What? 5 stars? BWAHAHA! DREAM ON!
